arcimboldo portraits

4th Graders learned about the interesting artwork of Guiseppe Arcimboldo, an Italian artist from the 1500's. Students were inspired by Arcimboldo's creative combination of vegetables and fruits to create their own unique portraits.

Winter action drawings

4th grade students analyzed famous artworks to understand how artists create the feeling of movement. Students chose a winter sport or active hobby and used diagonal lines to help the people look like they are moving. To reflect on their artwork, students chose to complete an Artist Statement or create a poem or story about their drawing.

face pots

Our 4th graders learned about the southern pottery tradition of Face Jugs. Students used the traditional face jugs as the inspiration for their own Face Pot and either made a decorative sculpture or a functional bowl, cup or flowerpot.

collage portraits

4th grade students combined several types of paper to create these abstract collage portraits. Painted paper, construction paper, magazines and scrapbook paper give these collages texture, variety and plenty of fun!

fall glue & chalk drawings

Translucent stars

How do science and art relate? Our 4th graders explored the ways an artist can use transparent, translucent, and opaque materials in their artwork.
Translucent origami paper was folded and glued together to make Analogous Color Stars or Stars in ROY_G_BIV or Rainbow Order!
